Day 2 - knowing your readers

There is so much to learn!!  It has been a little overwhelming today with the collation of data and new places to source this from and then share in!  I can absolutely see the benefit of doing this but think the last couple of weeks with camp and sickness has added to the way I am feeling.

I am excited though about the end result of this as I can see how this allows me to understand my readers so much better and be able to cater for this through the LI’s, WALT’s and S/C that I am able to pitch based on their needs.

I look forward to using the task board but do have apprehensions about how SOME of my learners will be able to manage themselves independently.  For lots of them, this is the first year on chrome books so that in itself is proving challenging.  I just need to introduce this when I have support of TA in class and have the chance to actually ‘teach’ the learners how to use the board.  I am also excited to share with my teaching colleague as in order for this to be successful, she is going to have to be on board.  My ability to be able to articulate what I have learnt today is going to be imperative so this provides me with even more motivation!!!!!

Thanks for sharing your reflection of Day 2.
Camp is exhausting in itself, without being sick...so I can only imagine how you are feeling.
I would take your time introducing the Task Boards - a scanning and searching lesson in itself. I am sure once the children become familiar with them, and when they see what great activities are on them, this will help them to manage themselves better :)
Best of luck over the next few weeks,
    Anna

  2. I agree with your reflection Cindy, your honesty shows that you have really thought about our students. With the stuff that you are learning in RPI it is awesome to see it those goals and intentions coming through in the classroom.
