It was really good today to 'wrap' up the complete pedagogy with the SHARE part of this being covered. This is such an important part of the kaupapa and it was great to see the blogs that people are using to do this.
I feel that personally, being aware of blogs and the purpose for this along with the audience will increase the quality of my own blogs as well as supporting my learners with theres. It is a piece of writing and we do this naturally when teaching 'writing' but I feel that when teaching blogs I don't tend to be as explicit in my instructions.
I also have had the chance to reflect on my own feedback to learners with their blogs and don't believe that I always give them the feedback that they need/deserve. Like Dorothy raised today, this is such an effective and authentic context for the learners along with being immediate. Therefore I should be making the most of this opportunity and using this platform to provide them with feedback/feed forward.
I also enjoyed working with the sheets today. I thought I knew a little about sheets so it was great to have the confirmation of this, along with being shown a WHOLE lot that I did not know about! It was a bit the same with forms - my biggest discovery was finding out that you can't seem to get questions back if you delete them?! I might have to research further into this as it was a bit of a nuisance.
I am going to try and find some quality blogs that I can link my learners to in order to have a look and discussion about what makes a quality blog post. If we can establish some criteria for this, then we will have a clear goal to work towards and clear criteria for me to provide feedback against. i will also provide time for my learners to be able to give feedback to one another as well as do a bit of a 'push' for their whanau to be more active if possible.
I do think that it just a matter of practicing lots and lots in order to improve my confidence and capability in the area of blogging. It is not something that I have done a lot of either for myself or with my learners so need to invest a decent amount of time in this in order to get better as a learner and a teacher in this field.
Kia ora Cindy, your graph is very information and I also like the summary you have added at the bottom. I too have not researched if we can undo the questions in forms if we delete them but will ask one of our esteemed colleagues tomorrow if we can. I will surely let you know if I find the answer. Your reflection on blogs is very valuable. I find blogs so useful in analysing what the students are posting, the quality of their blog posts as well as comments from their blog viewers. I always tell my students their blogs are their teaching tool to teach their blog viewers about what they are learning. Then I follow up by encouraging SISOMO blog posts.
